Governor Baker wants to address driving under the influence in his remaining time in office. (Jesse Costa/WBUR)

This is the Radio Boston rundown for Jan. 12. Tiziana Dearing is our host.

  • One of Gov. Baker's remaining priorities in his final year in office is a bill to address marijuana-impaired driving. What would this legislation actually mean for Massachusetts drivers? We take listener calls with Dr. Kevin Hill, Director of the Division of Addiction Psychiatry at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, John Carmichael, the Chief of Police in Newton, Massachusetts and former member of the state's Special Commission on Operating Under the Influence and Impaired Driving, and John Amabile, President of the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.
  • People of color have worse health outcomes than white people in America. We've known that, but the pandemic underscored the fact painfully. Brigham and Women's is trying something new to address that issue — a mentoring program designed to attract people of color into becoming physician's assistants. We're joined by Aline Snietka and Kimberly Rivera, both physician assistants at Brigham and Women's hospital, and Harena Gebreyesus, a participant in the program who's studying to become a physician's assistant at Mass General Hospital.

This program aired on January 12, 2022.
